Welcome to my website.
I hope you will enjoy my watercolors as much as I have loved painting them.
Art can be a healing experience and needs to be shared. Creativity is one of the best cures for all of our problems and learning to express oneself in any field whether it be painting, writing or music is a project well worth spending time on.
I am basically self taught but have attended various workshops through the years with Tony van Hasselt, Don Stone & Charles Reid. I have also collected a wonderful library of art books for independent study.
I have painted and drawn since childhood with art my favorite subject in school. Art has been a constant in my life, always waiting even when I neglected it. After experimenting with oils and pen & ink, I discovered the excitement of watercolors and have painted almost exclusively in that medium ever since.
I live in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire in an 1860's farmhouse with my three beloved Corgis. Three of my four children and their families live close by and all have been a great support in my life, encouraging me to paint and pursue my dreams.
My six grandsons and my first great-grandson have been wonderful subjects for paintings as they grew. Sometimes the dreams have been put off while raising four children and working full time but now that I am retired I have lots of time to spend on my art. The hours and days seem to fly when I am working on a new painting and there is always something new to learn and accomplish.

Planning ahead is very important in transparent watercolor (in order to save the whites).
Painting with watercolor is always a challenge- whether is involves trying to control the paint or just knowing when to let it do its own thing. Discovering new color and different interactions with paint and water is what brings me back to my studio.
My subject matter is varied- including sunny florals, landscapes ( mostly New England), people and animal portraits. Choosing a painting subject is fun and easy. There are opportunities everywhere and I am always planning my next painting. New England is a perfect place with the changing seasons, each offering a new adventure.
